Our pedagogy

A way of learning that supports every childs way of learning

EgCA-Sodra-1.jpg We confirm each child with attention, appreciation and sensitivity. We stay
close to the children and look at the world from their perspective. We
encourage eye contact and closeness.

We say ’friends’, ’kids’, ’children’ or the name of the group (eg. The Trolls)
and use the children's own name instead of saying, for example ’girls’ or
’boys’.

We encourage all children to be versatile in their choice of games, themes,
friends, places or materials. As adults, we engage in play, creativity and
dialogue. We are role models.

Eg-CA-leka-tillsammans.jpg We do not assume that children or adults are in a certain way based on their gender, age, origine or choice of clothing. We do not, for example, assume that girls are calm, sweet and caring while boys are wild, mischievous and boisterous. Everyone is entitled to their own different emotions and expressions.

We vary our language in everyday speech, play, songs, storytelling,
and dramatization. ‘She’ and ‘he’ can often be omitted or changed. For
example, sometimes when reading a story, we might change it so that the
princess saves the prince or make the characters in the story gender
neutral.

Eg-CA-Vattenlek-2.jpg Our children's literature, toys and creative materials should allow for a rich variety of roles, plays, fantasies and activities. Through role-play, conversations and informed choices of literature a
diversity of family constellations become visible and accepted.

We promote co-operative learning, friendship and how to look at
things from different perspectives. We encourage the
children to seek support, ideas, solutions, comfort from one another.
As adults, we ask open questions and confirm the children's different
ideas and approaches.

We create strong and developing relationships through care and
responsibility. Older school children visit and help their younger
friends and / or siblings. All children help out with various chores.

EgCA-Kram.jpg Everyone should have the opportunity to have their say and be heard.
Each individual is important and should be made visible.

In our documentation, in films and photographs and other
visualizations of the children, we strive to give a comprehensive and
positive image of each child and the group
